singapore food trip!!!!

i loooove singapore. i would have to say its my favorite south east asian destination! something about the vibe of the city that makes me comfortable and at ease. as in i wouldn't mind being based there for a few months for work or for school! actually, that's my secret dream!!!! (na hindi na secret ngayon. :p haha!)

this is an ultra long overdue post! but better late than never. june of last year, vince had to go to singapore for a football function, and i followed for a few days to get a short break lang. no touristy itinerary for this trip. it was purely a food trip!!!! ang saya. :))))

allow me to share with you a few highly recommended places to eat, should you go to singapore soon:

1. lao beijing!

where: novena square mall
what to order: the duck!!!!
notes: pace yourself cause the duck meat and fat and skin can get so overwhelming! have a cup of hot tea beside you to maximize the eating! haha. :p

2. no signboard seafood!

where: esplanade
what to order: cereal prawns, chili crab, fried bread, garlic vegetables!
notes: inspiring how this place started out as a stall with no sign, became bigger and bigger until it is now a posh resto with exactly that name, "no signboard"! get ready for your fingers to smell and taste like crab for hours after! sooo good.

3. tian tian hainanese chicken rice!

where: maxwell road food centre
what to order: chicken rice with extra chicken!
notes: we heard about this from anthony bourdain in discovery travel and living and just haaad to go! wow the chicken is sooo good it melts in your mouth! warning though, the line is like half an hour long on average!

4. food republic!

where: wisma atria food court
what to order: makan sutra chicken wings and shrimp pasta!
notes: one of my favorite food courts along orchard road! there is sooo much food to choose from in this area but these two items are at the top of our list! you can eat a dozen or more makan sutra chicken wings if you're not watching yourself, haha! they're also available at the esplanade area.

5. marutama ramen!

where: the central at clarke quay
what to order: basic ramen with extra char siew!
notes: the menu is very basic, as in its just regular ramen and spicy ramen.. but its a simple menu because it too good already that you won't wanna order anything else! pile on the add ons like veggies, egg, char siew! check out vince gulping down that bowl! haha!

6. 7-11! :p

where: clarke quay
what to order: whatever snack or drink you're craving at the moment.
notes: for our last night there, we decided to do something extremely lovey dovey and day-off-y.. bought a couple of drinks and snacks and walked around clarke quay and ended up sitting by the steps on the river talking and laughing for hours and hours. :)))) (minsan lang ako cheesy so please pagbigyan ninyo ako! :p)

can't wait to see you again, singapore!

oh, and of course! i mustn't forget. i leave you with the new additions to my tumbling shot collection!

from left to right, city hall station, orchard road, esplanade.

,so, you went to Merlion Park, for sure you were able to see the "supot" na merlion..HEHE..the small one! My friends and I call it "S" coz it blows only li'l water..wala lang, napagtripan lang sya! Sorry lah!!
,speaking of lah, I think it's also nice if you put some famous expressions of the locals of that certain country you're going. Nothing lah! To add some fun lah! Can ah!?
,thanks for this post Bianca. You made me miss Singapore but it made me appreciate even more all the mis/adventures I had when I was there.
,when you go back there, please visit Times Bookstore in Marina Square! It's the best place...for me!

I've only been to Singapore once, but I instantly fell in love with the place :> I'd also love to be given the chance to live there for a while, to really get a feel of it. The one time I went there, I remember obsessing about their Lemon Chicken rice :p Haha we have it here in Phils too, but it was definitely special there :D So nice there!

Seems like you would be the PERFECT companion on a food trip, to whatever place in the world! Not even my friends know how to indulge in good food. I wish I had a friend like you... =(

& wow! Singapore! It's one of my dream destinations, but I'm from NJ and travel to Singapore (& the Philippines, for that matter) costs an arm and a leg - quite literally. =/

Hi Bianca, I've been a fan of your blog for awhile. I love your blog and the way you blog. There were times I obsessed about your entries by trying to read everything from your blog
but I never got around to finishing it...yet. Guess I'll save those up later for more inspiration. I'm a big fan of Uplate, I love your energy and your positivity on all things. I also appreciate the fact
that you don't blog much about your work, it seems like a jungle. :p

As I read through your blog I realize how real you are as a person (a girl who likes girly things but strong to keep herself from doing anything you might regret) just like any of us and wonderful one that is. I'm happy that now that you're a public figure, you were able to share your life to us and that you're someone we could look up to.
I envy how a lot of great things are happening to your life, envy in a good way though, that I am inspired to keep my optimism and choose to live a happy life. I wish that no tragedies come into your life but that can't be, those things happen for our growth and to make us stronger. I envy you for being able to travel a lot ;p , (I also love travelling too! And almost everything that goes along with it) but envious in way that I'm happy you're delighted with the places you've been to and at the same time satisfies the need for more happy travels!
And even if you've mentioned you never seemed to have enough time and money, I feel like I don't even have half of it! Haha, we travel-junkies just can't keep from craving on travelling huh? ;p And saving up never seemed enough. Haha!

I hope you blog more or just plainly keep blogging to inspire more people with your optimism. You've inspired me so much with blogging that I finally decided (and found the time and strength, haha) to migrate all my entries from different journals into one blog.
Which I hope you could visit sometime when you have the time. I hope that this won't seem crazy for you but instead part of your inspiration to feel more optimistic especially when you're starting to feel down.
Let's keep the energy, optimism and love for the whole year... and the rest of our lives! =)
May God bless you and your loved ones! :)

Singapore is one of my favorite places also. The place is just sooooooooo clean. And the food is amazing. All those food pictures you posted is making me super hungry. =)

Have you tried Jollibean? I literally stopped dead when I first saw the sign. It was our very own Jollibee with the same font but in green! Then I realized it's not the burger, spaghetti, burger thing, it's actually full of soya products. Our very own taho! The owner, I bet, is a Pinoy fan. I mean, obvious, the logo says it all! =)
