my top ten favorite tumbling shots!

i love traveling. ♥

other travelers collect magnets, others collect coasters. i collect tumbling shots.

i started collecting these in 2008, and so sadly, all my trips prior to that, i have no tumbling shots. and sadly, whenever i travel alone, no one is there to take my tumbling shot for me. :(

i now have over 70 tumbling shots, with multiple shots in one city. but counting only the really good ones, i am proud to say i have 48 kick ass tumbling shots! some shots we got with only one take, but i've gone up to tumbling a dozen times just to get the perfect shot! i remember one time in the todai-ji temple, nara, japan, the place was extremely full with tourists and i just wanted to get the perfect shot. i had to tumble around three or four times, so much so that when we got the perfect shot, the grandmas and grandpas who were watching me were clapping and cheering! i smiled and took a bow. :p

every city i've visited has a very special place in my heart. every tumbling shot has a story. it is very, very hard for me to choose which are my favorite! after much thought and serious deliberation in my head, i am happy to share with you all my top ten tumbling shots! enjoy!

10
abandoned airport runway, camarines norte, philippines.

i was on a field visit with unicef philippines in daet, camarines norte, and one night, we were brought this beautiful area where the shore of the sea met this abandoned airport where kids were just playing on the runway. the sun was setting and it created beautiful shadows everywhere. there was a parked motorbike right by the edge and i decided to take a tumbling shot right beside it. it created this silhouette against the dimming sky.

9
by the beach, krabi, thailand.

krabi is the less popular beach destination in thailand, as opposed to phuket. i've never been to phuket, but i must say, krabi is beautiful. it was off peak season during the time we were there, so we had our giant resort almost solely to ourselves, and the weather was divine. the whole place was peaceful and beautiful, which made for a perfect rest and relaxation trip. i decided to tumble on this rock formation by the shore.

8
a frozen lake tahoe, califonia, usa.

i've been on quite a number of trips where i got to play in snow, but none like this trip to tahoe. we ran around, we slid, we even made snow angels! my brother, sister-in-law tracy, and godson roco brought me to tahoe on one trip i had to san francisco, because they wanted to show me the place where they love to go snowboarding. i may not have learned how to snowboard on that trip, but i didn't miss the chance to get my tumbling shot done, on solid ice! my coldest tumbling shot to date.

7
house of parliament, london, united kingdom.

a year ago, my sister aissa moved to london to study. i have never been to london before that and have always wanted to, so her moving there was the perfect reason and time for me to take a trip there. she showed me all around the city to see all the beautiful streets and sights and it definitely was tumbling shot heaven! i chose this shot by the house of parliament because it was so surreal. i only see this in movies or in the news! actually being there, for real, was pretty awesome.

6
winter lake lodge, whistler, canada.

canada is beautiful. its one of those places where you feel so close to nature. from vancouver, to victoria, to whistler, everything was just so pretty. this is a shot taken on the street behind an extremely charming winter lake lodge we stayed at while in whistler. we had just arrived and we were checking out the place, when we saw this view. the calm lake, snow topped trees, and light flurries in the air made for one really precious tumbling shot!

5
cherry blossoms, kyoto, japan.

japan is one of my absolute favorite countries in the world! tokyo, kyoto, nara, and kobe are the cities i've been to, and if you plan to visit japan, i suggest you see all of them. words and photos do not do justice to how beautiful the place is! the first time i saw cherry blossoms was in tokyo. i instantly fell in love with cherry blossom season! this shot however was taken on an empty street in kyoto at night. cherry blossoms are gorgeous even at night.

4
st. basil's cathedral, moscow, russia.

russia is one of those countries i've always wanted to go to but never actually thought i would. everyone goes to europe, or north of asia, but who goes to russia?! so i was more than ecstatic when i found out that i was going to moscow with the mega magazine team!! i was only in the city for a little more than two days, but i did my best to soak up all the sites. the red square is something i only see in the news so it was a blast having my tumbling shot taken there!

3
majestic angkor wat, siem reap, cambodia.

siem reap has been on my to-go list for the longest time because i've been dreaming to see angkor wat. we here in the philippines are so lucky because aside from the beautiful sites in our own country, we're so close to so many amazing places to go to here in asia! the angkor wat temples exceeded all my expectations. walking through the halls of centuries-old structures was like a dream. i felt like i am now part of history after doing this tumbling shot.

2
i love soho, new york, usa.

there is no other city in the world like new york city! a trip to new york never ever fails to inspire and energize, and as alicia keys sang, its the "concrete jungle where dreams are made of, there's nothing you can't do," its so true! i love central park, upper west, upper east, brooklyn, chelsea, but soho has got to be my favorite! i love how the texture of the street and the wide leg pants complimented each other in this shot. i love new york.

1
the amazing great wall, beijing, china.

i can't claim i've been to that many cities around the world compared to other travelers, there are still sooo many more on my list.. but if you ask me what the most beautiful sight in the world that i've seen is, i would have to answer the great wall of china. of all the sites that have amazed me, have gone beyond my wildest dreams, and have taken my breath away, this tops my list. it is precisely that, the. great. wall. we did the 10 kilometre trek from jinshanling to simatai, which is the part of the wall that is still the original wall, not remade or recreated. every single huff and puff and sweat bead was more than worth it. walking, climbing, and scaling the actual ruins of the wall that divides mongolia and china is one of the most unreal experiences i've had. the way the sunlight hits each stone on the wall is divine. at some point, i felt like angels were singing! its that beautiful! that is why, this is my choice for my favorite tumbling shot of alll time. ♥

my name is bianca, traveler, and i collect tumbling shots. i dream to tumble in many, many more places. :)

what is your passion, and what is your dream? :)

That like you, through hardwork I would be able to travel in different countries to see beautiful scenery,i know it's a bit cliche but I really love travelling. I would want to travel Philippines first and for my 18th I am planning to go Palawan and other beautiful places in the Philippines although i dont really know where to go. You are such an inspiration.

Well, that tumbling near the Big Ben was awesome, it was last two months ago if I remember. Anyway, I don't know how to tumble, need some upper body strength and balance to do that perfectly though but your adventure style seems to have a catch in me that someday, I will travel the world and do something out of the ordinary and collect them so that my kids and grandchildren will see them someday and they will be determine to strive and achieve your dreams. Sorry, I didn't join your 8th anniversary promo but I will continue to admire your posts and serve as my inspiration.

I always have the passion to care for people. I can empathize what people are feeling. This is why I am taking up BS Nursing, my dream is to become a NURSE. I can say that taking up this course isn't really a good idea for people who doesn't have longer patience, no perseverance. It is one of the most stressful job in the world and do you know how good it feels to serve people? it's when you care for them unconditionally and they get to appreciate every little thing you do for them, it's honestly priceless!

I'm just one of those readers na like you gustong makapagtravel and since I've yet to start it, ikaw na mismo nagdadala sa kin' sa iba't ibang places. Galing! I feel like natravel ko na din ang mga napuntahan sa super nice descriptions mo to every place you've been to. Galing mo!

Oh when I read your question napahinto ako. I realize na isa lang dapat ang passion talaga. Napahinto ako kasi I've yet to know it pala. Sa edad ko na ito hindi ko tiyak matukoy kung ano tlaga. nakakaasar in a way. That's because I have limited actions pa kasi siguro when I get to move by my own talaga doon ko malalaman ang tunay na passion ko. As for my dream, I just want to become successful in life una sa lahat. I want to travel with my family as well. Basta simple lang gusto ko sa life and makitang masaya ang mama, mamane and brother ko sa ginagawa ko, at ang magsilbing instrument ni God sa kung ano man gusto niyang ipagawa sa akin :)

Yung tipong pang necessities lang ang money that's why di din ako nakakapagtravel kahit within Philippines lang. Super inggit lang ako. Have you been to Paris and Rome na din ba? Those 2 are my greatest dream!!! I hope I could go to different places across the world too. More tumbling shots!! Sayang, di ako marunong magtumbling. Hehehe. More power! :) Mwaaah! ♥

I'm ecstatic to know that we have the same collection, tumbling shots (my Facebook profile’s actually a tumbling shot, right in front of The Mansion in Baguio). I started just recently (about a year or two) and I don’t have as many awesome tumbling shots as you do but every time I look at my collection, there’s this fulfillment that I feel to have been to some beautiful places and at the same time being able incorporate a sense of athleticism, a sense of “ME” (I’m a self-proclaimed athlete, by the way), in the photos that I ask others to take (and yes, I’ve tumbled a lot of times just to get that perfect shot).

You inspire me more to travel and tumble. Cheers to more trips to the world's most awesome places, and of course, to more beautiful perfect, tumbling shots, Bianca!

I love your blog and enjoyed looking at your Tumbling shots. I am a blogger too but I blog at WordPress. I have your link on my blogroll. When I read that you had a contest in celebration of your 8 years of blogging, I recommended that they visit your site.

You're touching a lot of people. Thanks Bianca for sharing. I would really love to meet someday if I have the chance but I seldom go out because I still have to wear a face mask when I am with a big crowd. You see, I am a cancer survivor and blogging has become a sort of catharsis for me. I told myself that if I could touch even just one person thru my blogs, then I am fulfilled.

Hi Bianca! I've been hearing about your blog back then but it was only now that I was able to visit it. :) I love how you kept your entries very simple. I mean you don't talk about what brand you were wearing, how much it costs, how intelligent you may be, etc. To tell you the truth, I was hooked the moment i began reading your posts. As a matter of fact, I have scanned through them up until your first entry. I was not able to study for two of my exams actually. haha Nevertheless, your entries were worth my time (kala mo naman VIP ako haha). But what actually kept me interested was your HUMILITY. I felt it through your posts. I don't know why but I felt this certain connection between us (wow haha). Kidding aside, it was as if you were an ordinary person, just my neighbor, just a friend I enjoy sharing my stories with. Sobrang nakarelate ako sa mga kwento mo. :)I had fun reading them because they are very sensible. Your experiences were very ordinary that we, ordinary people, could relate to every single one of them.

I must say I enjoyed reading through your blog that everytime I go online, I make it a point to visit it. (seryoso) Going through your blog, I found myself going back to a number of posts.

1. I always go back to the three home videos you've posted. First was when you and your sister surprised your brother in the States. Second was your nephew learning how to play peekaboo. Third and last was when roco said hi to you, your mom,and your sister. I admire your relationship with your family. You guys are very very close. :)

2. I often go back to your post regarding your flight, the business class one. I felt the sincerity and humility in a sense that you were going crazy over it. Unlike those who are wealthy who mention that they flew business class and end up looking arrogant.

3. Your birthday celebrations that were very genuine. I love how you made it look so ordinary despite the fact na expensive yung mga kinakainan mo and all. Most people kasi blog about their experiences with high-end restaurants and brag about how expensive it was, their only intention was to show the world how wealthy they are. Sobrang ordinary ng dating mo, mabait and very simple. :)

4. I don't go back to your posts naman way back 2003 but when I reached them, dun ako nakarelate ng sobra. I'm a college student and I just finished my thesis. Your rants, talagang nakarelate ako don. I felt you. :))

5. I also do not go back naman at the time when you sold your first car. :( Sobrang I felt the pain. Kung ako yun, di ko bebenta. May pagka sentimental ako so I would opt to keep it instead. Hay, hardwork. :)Pero I know it was hard for you. :(

Okay, I've said a lot. Sorry. :) Pero really, I enjoy going through your blog talaga. I feel happy and light. I feel na hindi lang ako ang tao sa mundo. haha ano daaaw? Basta hindi ako magsasawa ivisit yung blog mo palagi. :)

Remain Humble. Remain Simple. We admire you for that. :)

I've never been to any country outside Asia. As I was looking down on your list, a pang of envy made a way to my heart. But no worries. It motivated me even more to be determined. Someday, someday, I'd get to have that chance to. :) You're life is amazing, Bianca and you deserve it. :) God bless! :)

P.S.
When I saw your top 1, it painted a smile on my face and a gazillion memories as well. The Great Wall is still my favorite place that we've visited. I made Chinese friends in Beijing and we shared the universal love for fried chicken here in Manila :)

i love all your tumbling shots! I wish I can also travel to those places you'd been too. But reading on your entries here about your travels, parang nakapunta na din ako sa mga places na yon :)

Hi Bianca... nice collection of tumbling shots! I myself love to travel and I collect magnets. I'm sure you will still continue travelling even if you're 50+, just wondering do you think you can still do tumbling shots when you're 50+? :-)... Greetings from Belgium ----- Grace

hi miss B!
i never really thought that you are a kind of person who is very energetic(the tumbling/cartwheeling:)) it changed my impressions about you, not in a bad way but this blog inspired me to keep on the right tracks of life. to finish my studies and to see the world in upside side down. :)))
