inspiration!!!!

inspiration: feu kids.

vince is the program director for football in feu. the feu men's and women's team are known to be very strong, but it is the feu juniors team that i am a big fan of. (okay, the team AND the coach. hahaa!) most of the players on the team were scouted last summer from all over the country.. baguio, iloilo, davao, even bukidnon, compostela valley, and north cotabato! these are kids whose ball-kicking skills were spotted at palarong pambansa, and its these skills that earned them a full scholarship at a manila university. how about that? (i am still thinking of a way so that help kids learn project can do something for these kids. any ideas? :p) to top it all off, these are first and second year high school kids who constantly compete with third or fourth year kids! to add to that, because they are not as well off as their manila counterparts, they are also half their size, in height and width! but man, these kids play with heart. plus they are developing some serious skills! but really, more than that, they play with pure heart, equipped with their love for the sport, and their dreams for themselves and their families back home. when you watch these kids play.. wow.. it is so inspiring. i hope to see them all represent philippine football one day.

inspiration: iamninoy runners.

as my friend drew likes to say, "running is the new badminton!" and indeed it is. almost every week i think there is a run organized somewhere in manila! its amazing. i love how we are slowly becoming a healthier, more active society, as well as a more socially responsible society. all this put together is the reason why drew and i joined forces to put together the happy run, which is now making possible a new school building for bagong tanyag elementary school! (thank you sooo much to everyone who was a part of it! thank you!!!! we hope to have the school structure up in time for next school year! yaaay!) the success of this event in turn, gave our friends from iamninoy the great idea of tying up running with the cause of children's education! isn't that sooo great?! our running jersey reads, "build mileage, build endurance, build schools.. i am a runner, i am a hero, i am ninoy." the passion to run and help is so inspiring. run and help build more schools! niiice!! i am not (yet) a strong runner, but hey, if the more i run, the more i can help kids learn.. why not right?! be one of us right now, and register by clicking here.

inspiration: pia arroyo-magalona.

its been a few weeks already, but i think most of us still cannot believe that francis magalona has passed. he is undoubtedly a filipino icon and his ideals will definitely live forever. they say that behind every great man, is a great woman.. this holds true for francis m. and the great force behind the man from manila, is pia arroyo. it is of course understandable how the family chose not to face the press when news of fm's death just came out. but just a few days after, when pia did face the public, everyone was in awe and in great admiration of how strong she was. i got to visit day two of the wake, and at first did not know how to approach her or what to say. i was pointed in her direction, and upon seeing her, she suddenly goes, "bonkers!" with a nice, warm smile on her face. (pia is fond of pet names, and she decided "bonkers" was the pet name for me.) i extended my sympathies, she shared a bit of how her day has been, and then i told her, "its funny how its us who say hi to you who are even more worried, like we're getting ready to see you burst into tears anytime.." her reply broke my heart. i wanted to burst into tears. their love is the most inspiring love. she simply says, "you know what, i'm not really worried.. because when its love, you know, real love, you know he will be there forever. so yeah, he's just here."

inspiration: fashionable young bloggers.

you know those days when you wake up, and have to leave the house, but are too lazy to get dressed so you just throw on whatever, and therefore look like "whatever" the whole day? i hate those days!! sayang eh! hahaha! there are so many possibilities with how we can look everyday. fashion is a form of self-expression! and its such a shame if we let our being tamad get the better of us. and hey, dressing up everyday does NOT mean that we always have to have new clothes, or we always have to wear expensive or labeled items.. not at all!! (i'm for one quite kuripot so i do always have to make do with what i have. hehe!) so for the past few months, when i wake up, and feel sort of lazy to get ready, i look to the internet (or at magazines) to push me to put together a nice outfit. one of my favorite blogs to check out is the blog of jane aldrige. she's american, loves designer shoes, but also repeats items a lot! she just wears them different ways! recently also, i found a local blog of a friend of a friend, and now this girl is officially one of my favorite youngsters ever! she is rosanna aranaz and she loves shopping at ukay ukay and sm! she mixes her finds with her existing fab pieces. their excitement to dress up everyday gets me so inspired to dress up too. who says bloggers are geeks?! we're cool kaya! hahaha!

inspiration is everywhere!!!!
how about you? what inspires you?

bianca -ur the best! i love that you have put up something football related in your blog.. now i like you more for liking the sport.. FEU football program is awesome i agree, but wait San Beda has one too -and they recruit from all over the country as well. that includes my homesoil iloilo. now im not from San Beda but i recently had a chance to play with their varsity team and they are the best -skillswise, disciplined and dedicated. There's 5 of them from iloilo including the team captain.. hope the sport grows bigger like basketball here, maybe you can come up of something related in some of your projects.. we'll all be supporting you like always.. God Bless! keep us posted!

i agree, running is indeed the new badminton. my cousin and i don't exactly run (yet) but we do walkathons around our village everyday for 30-minutes. pero kahit 30-minutes lang, ang sarap na sa pakiramdam! eto ah, pag mayaman na kami sasali kami sa mga fund raising na ina-aarrange niyo ng friends mo para cool diba? and who knows, perhaps someday, kami naman ng pinsan ko gagawa ng mga ganung stuff.

Wee! the future is so exciting it is inspires me big time! so, i guess, that's what inspires me after all -- the FUTURE!

Anonymous said...

yeah, pia magalona is indeed an inspiration. i've seen her interviews during the wake and she was really strong. what inspires me? pre school teachers do that's why im going back to school so i can teach one day, i just love kids. and someone like you is an inspiration. i hope to make a difference in this world someday just like what you want to do. :)

Hey Bonkers! I was directed to this post via my plurk and I'm glad to have touched you--and so many others--in a way that I hope will always be remembered: to always have dignity in the midst of adversity. It's the only thing you've got, if you really think about it. Your self preservation is most important whether or not others look up to you (in my case, the children). After all, God says what's important is how you lived your life while on this earth, how you touched others, and nothing else. Be inspired!
I love FrancisM...
Love always,
Pia Magalona

Hi! I've been reading your posts ever since I discovered your site (accidental discovery). Anyway, this is actually my first time to post a comment to a celebrity, perfect timing siguro because you talked about insipirations. You've been a great one to a lot of people, its just so great that you seem to balance everything plus all the help you've been giving our country pa! It makes "normal" young professionals like me be inspired to help others even in some small ways. I also like your being "makabayan" with a cause! Keep it up! :)

My father.

As nagging, furious, annoying, drunk he got he still put values first and foremost.

He loved women but never cheated on my mother. As a kid, he searched the country side for valuable "trash" and sold it for a few pesos. He told me I should go forward in life and destroy anything and anyone in my way. Thats the only way to escape the harshness of poverty. He thought me how to fix and maintain cars. Thought me how to drive defensively since he noticed I was a reckless, "fast and furious" kind of driver. My father started from nothing to a government employee. I look up to him, but like every son that follows thier father's footsteps, I want to surpass his accomplishments.

This is going to sound weird. But it's my Constitutional Law 1 professor. He's weird, and he can be such a bully. But he's a bully of a good kind. :)

At least, being in his class has made me study so much harder!

I'll miss him and his analogies!
