amaaazing grace!

just like the ups and downs of our personal life, our spiritual life also has its ups and downs. may time na malapit tayo sa DiYoS, may time din na nakakalimot tayo. i was in a spiritual high when i took lss and search-in back in high school, then i backslid amidst all the things on my to-do list during college, then i grew much closer to the LoRd when i met certain people in my life after college, until now!

after 24 years of MAJOR ups and downs in life, i've learned that one of the best, if not the best thing that can help comfort you? the bible! as in!! i've read the bible crying, laughing, hurt, angry, happy, fulfilled, lahat!! and really, what a difference HiS word makes.

meet my backpack bible, yet to be named (my most precious items are named, so pepel, think of a name na for this!), and just like a school notebook, i have doodles of all kinds on it. :p try it!!

allow me to share with you a few of the most powerful passages, that were shared with me those times that i needed comforting most. in case it might help you out or lift you up in any way. :)

"therefore i tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. and when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive him, so that your FaTheR in heaven may forgive you your sins."
mark 11: 24-25, shared by spiritual guru connie reyes.

"therefore, strengthen your feeble arms and weak knees. make level paths for your feet, so that the lame may not be disabled, but rather healed."
hebrews 12: 12-13, shared by my wise-woman, tita sandy.

"'for i know the plans i have for you,' declares the LoRd. 'plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.'"
jeremiah 29: 12, shared by my darling friend toni.

"look at the birds of the air, they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly FaTheR feeds them. are you not much more valuable than they? who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?"
matthew 6: 26-27, shared by my guiding light, pastor doy.

"i can do everything through HiM who gives me strength."
philippians 4: 13, shared by me to you.

grabe!! super big fan ako ng show na "inside the actor's studio". i just love listening to how different artists are so passionate about their craft. nakaka-inspire kung pano sila nakakapagbigay-buhay sa mga characters na makakapag-inspire din ng napakadaming tao.

the host, james lipton, always asks every guest these ten questions, made by his idol, bernard pivot.

scarred people are beautiful.

oh my peklat!! til today i hear it, “pahingi naman ng barya, o?” yeah, yeah. malakas lang talaga mang-alaska ang mga pinoy! hehe.

let me introduce you to my two scars.

yung una, yung mas light na nasa kaliwa, i got during my grade school girl scout days. we were playing patintero on the street while waiting to go on our christmas caroling project. masyado atang malakas ang pag-taya sa akin ng kasama ko! i fell, it hurt, but just like the trooper that i am, i got up, dusted off my green uniform, and was off to our caroling. by the time we got to the third house, my leg suddenly felt itchy. yun pala. tumutulo na yung dugo from my wound! as in umaagos! i was sent home ahead.

yung pangalawa, yung mas dark na nasa kanan, i got just a few months ago. walking five steps from the gate of my workplace to where my car was parked, out of nowhere, all of a sudden, unexpectedly, natisod ako. yung parang binatukan ako mula sa likod, tumilapon paharap, sumubsob sa kalye, at ayun, tumama ang tuhod ko sa semento. totoo pala yung sa mga sitcom, yung pag nadadapa, tumatalbog?

so.. how do my scars make me beautiful?

actually, these scars don’t. sa totoo lang, physically, yuck siya. i’m such a big fan of girls i see na talagang mala-manika ang legs. huwooow talaga! salamat na lang sa mga produkto tulad ng sally hansen spray, those times that i need to wear a short dress, nairaraos ko naman. or those other times on the beach or when in shorts, pakapalan na lang ng mukha. hehe.

but it did help me a lot on my long quest to be comfortable with myself. of course mas madaling sabihin na “i’m comfortable in my own skin” kapag flawless ka. but for me, having all these scars growing up helped me have this attitude na, “hey, nagkaroon ako ng childhood! history ko yan! at bawat peklat, may kwento yan.” of course i wish that i could freely flaunt my legs, sino ba naming girl ang ayaw nun, diba? but hey, i’ve come to terms with the fact na isa yun sa imperfections ko, i have to learn how to deal with it, at hindi ko naman ikasasama bilang tao at kristiyano na may peklat ako diba. :p

but scarred people are beautiful.. right?

i am a proud member of search-in circle 70 ng la salle zobel! those who went to any la salle school are familiar with this, but to those who aren’t, search-in is basically a retreat that junior high school students can attend, where they learn more about themselves, their social responsibility, and the LoRd.

i remember this beautiful story titled “scarred people are beautiful”. wala man akong access sa files ng search-in, with the help of my sister aissa (SI C55) and our good friend ian (SI C70), we were able to put together the story so i can share it with you. here goes.

once upon a time, there was this big piece of rock living peacefully on a mountaintop. one day, he gets transported somewhere far, far away. all of a sudden, he receives multiple blows around his body. he gets hurt once, twice, more times. he’s hurt bad. he doesn’t know why he’s being beaten, but it goes on and on. one day, it suddenly all stops. everything becomes peaceful just like it was before. after some time, he notices that people start to look at him, they stop and stare, and he’s wondering why. one day, there were two workers walking by, and they were carrying a big mirror. the rock saw his reflection, and saw, he was now a beautiful statue.

sometimes, or oftentimes, we are filled with uncertainty of why we feel the pain that we feel. in the end, all these blows that we receive, mold us to become beautiful beings.

ang say ni GoD sa mga scars na ito?

one of my favorite passages in the bible is james 1: 2-4. i like reading it those times that i feel down and depressed..

“consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.”

get your act together!

for the looongest time, i've been planning to organize all my things at home, but i never really got around to doing it.

ganito kasi yun.. nung umalis yung kuya ko two years ago, unti-unti nang naging walk-in-closet ko ang kwarto niya. hehehe. (oops! hi brow!! i miss you!! sorry ha, your room is mine.) at sooobrang nakakalat lang ang lahat ng sapatos, damit, jeans, dress, gown, accessories, bags ko kung saan-saan. so finally, the other day, i went to a fantastic shop called make room to try to get my act together.

wooohooo!! yey!! grabe!! ang astig astig astig ng mga home shops! as in!! lahat ng klase ng lalagyan at rack at storage meron sila! i swear, i'm gonna go broke in stores like that. hehe.

feel na feel ko na homemaker ako! hehe. i got clear drawers para ma-organize ko ang mga damit ko. i got shoe racks para sa mga heels ko at isa siyempre para sa chucks collection ko. :p i got this really cool linen box and this hanger with clear pockets para sa lahat ng accessories ko. sa sobrang excited ko, i arranged my earrings and necklaces and bangles pagkauwi ko!

haha, babaw ba? ito ang sinasabi kong finding little things that can make you smile. ako, eto. pagiging feeling "homemaker". :p

(para sa lahat ng nagtatanong, ang make room ay nasa alabang town center, rockwell, shangrila mall, and glorietta four. go, go, go! happy home-stuff-hunting!)

i hope you had your reason to smile today.

to begin with, aspiring filmmaker ako.

thanks to bryanboy, i was introduced to the idea of writing "open letters". he usually writes his open letters to fabulous designers around the world. dahil super nag-enjoy ako sa "ocean's thirteen", i decided to write my first open letter to a filmmaker!

sa lahat ng bloggers na nagbabasa nito, go, go, go and write your own open letters! malay natin, mabasa ito ng mga taong sinusulatan natin. :p

sa lahat ng film fans na nagbabasa nito, do you watch "the lot"? the search for the next big hollywood director? graaabe! i get so emotional and into it when i'm watching kasi suuuper dream come true ang pinagdadaanan nila! what a chance indeed for any aspiring filmmaker. so far, my favorite film made on the show is "broken pipe dreams" by sam friedlander. enjoy!

astig no? grabe..

sana makapagsulat ako ng madaming short film soon. :) at sana ma-direct ko din. ayus!!
