you know how when you're in love and you feel like you can do anything? yung pakiramdam na kahit anong challenge, kahit anong problema, kahit anong pahirap, kayang kaya mong harapin?

this love makes me happy..

you know how when you think about love, then you have this stupid, smug smile on your face na di mo mabura-bura at medyo nahihiya kang humarap sa tao kasi nakangiti kang mag-isa? that feeling that you are so excited to encounter this love over and over again?

this love gives me peace.

maybe it comes with age, maybe it comes with experience, or maybe it comes with this kind of love. i have never been more peaceful in my life.. or at least i have never found myself in this state, that despite being in the midst of chaos, it is easy to go back to my peace.

is bikram yoga.

its my new sport!! well, fairly new, i've taken a couple of regular yoga sessions since early last year, but for bikram, i started attending classes since november last year, and i am really loving every minute of it! it helps that i take the class with my sister aissa, and the yoga instructor is my friend pye. i love it!

its great exercise. i had no idea kaya pala ng tao na mapawisan ng ganun katindi! it detoxifies unlike any other activity or treatment i've been through. in class, you really feel like you're going to pass out and die, but when you do get through it, you feel so proud of yourself that your body is capable of doing all those poses and you discover strength you never knew you had.

bikram yoga has also has taught me things about myself that help me grow physically, mentally, emotionally. in class, the instructor just talks and talks and talks for an hour and a half non-stop, pushing you to your limits, guiding you step by step on what you have to do. what i love about it is the fact that you have to be 100% focused on getting through the poses. you put away any negative thoughts, or any other thought for that matter, you just have to focus on what you have to do at the moment. an hour and a half of deep meditation and focusing on nothing else but yourself is a great escape from the sometimes-chaotic-and-toxic-life we have.

pye said this one line in class once that stuck with me and my sister, as a sort of mantra in life, and not just for yoga class..

"do not let anyone, or anything, take away your peace."

isn't that an amazing thought?

looking for some inspiration?

okay, here goes. di ako magmamarunong to say na gamay ko ang american politics. not at all!! in fact, i know little about the difference of the democrats and the republicans, ngayon ko lang natututunan ang sistema ng primaries and national elections, and unti-unti ko pa lang sinusubukang maintindihan what is considered more liberal or more conservative sa kanila.

i may not know much about how american politics and society works, but i do know much about inspiration. i know about inspiration and how it can move you. how simple but inspiring words can move you deeply and lift your spirits. how it can move you to believe. believe that you can do something. that you can be something.

i promise, worth it na panoorin ito! just wait for it to load.. you won't regret it!


inspiration not just for the american people but for any citizen of the world, i think! thank you mr. obama!

my new favorite movie: 'across the universe'!!

wow. as in WOW. as in WOW!
i'm not kidding, wow.

after watching this, i realized that this is exactly why i love films - because of its great power to stir every kind of emotion in you, to share powerful stories that we can grow from, and to give tribute to amazing people who we want others to know more about.

just thinking about this movie still makes my hairs stand on end!!



maybe like 80% of the movie my jaw was just dropped still in awe, and the other 20% i was either singing or crying. i can't believe a film can be this amazing. it is now tied with 'eternal sunshine of the spotless mind' as my all-time favorite movie. i got the chance to watch this amazing film a few weeks ago and i highly recommend that everyone who gets to read this post, watches it.

if you are a big beatles fan (and i am a huge one), i promise you will love it!!

the filmmaker, julie taymor, is of theatrical background ('the lion king' being her most famous), and actually first screened her film to an audience of two. one being her, and the other, being THE paul mccartney. she excitedly shared to oprah how he sang under his breath to some musical parts of the film, and how she asked him after the film, "is there anything you didn't like?", and he replied, "what's not to like?"

imagine a stage play on the big screen.
imagine artwork made into a film.
imagine a perfect cast whose characters are inspired by the songs of the beatles ('jude' and 'lucy' being the hero and heroine).
imagine a modern-day interpretation of our favorite beatles classics like..
'let it be' (put together with deaths in the time of war),
'if i fell' (as the song sung by lucy when she realized she was falling for jude),
'come together' (supported by activists and artists all coming together in new york city),
'i want you' (put together with recruiting soldiers to fight in the war), and
'all you need is love' (as a perfect tribute scene to the beatles, and is the part i cried a river to)!!

a total of 33 beatles songs were used in the film, and as i read more trivia on the film, even some scenes that you would think aren't major scenes, are actually interpretations of other songs not included in the musical part of the film.

oh, and i mustn't forget. bono, yes as in THE bono, sings and acts for this fantastic film!

mood: missing the men in my life!

i've always been very, very vocal about my being a kuya's girl, and also about how proud i am of my best friend. they are two of the most important men in my life and i am sooo blessed to have them! together with the women in their lives, they hit the road to napa valley just last weekend. my brother jc and my best friend pepel.. together!! aaack! i swear naiiyak ako sa tuwa! di ko man sila kasama, ang saya saya na malaman na magkasama sila dun at nag-eenjoy ng todo todo!

you've met tracy, my brother's beautiful fiancee. now, meet pat, my best friend's beautiful girlfriend!!



the four of them are based in san francisco, but the two couples hardly get together. after a day of bonding (and drinking! =p) out of town, they all vowed to see each other more often! yaaay! ang saya saya ko talaga! its sooo great to know my brother enjoys my best friend's company, and, my best friend loves my brother's company!

favorite bonding activity: hanging out at home and bumming while squeezing into one bed with our sister.
next favorite bonding activity: watching foreign and independent films!
