i can't believe its been more than six years ago..



i remember watching our senators walk out as if it were just a year ago, when it was announced that "the no votes have it". my hair still stands on end when i remember it. i remember my siblings and i rushing to join the historic edsa dos revolution. fighting for what we believed was right, joining jim paredes and thousands others singing "huling huli", waiting for "justice to be served".

then, erap stepped down, and gloria stepped in.

and now, though not in full, the verdict has been read.

not guilty on the charge of perjury.
guilty on the charge of plunder.
sentenced to reclusion perpetua.

abs-cbn news anchor ricky carandang said earlier that in some way, each president we've had has been accused of some form of corruption. but it is only now that a case has been seen through to a verdict.

i am pleased that this chapter is almost over.. but it makes you think, how about all the other cases? how about all the other names that came out in the hearings on jueteng, the jose velarde account, and misused government funds? do they all walk free? how about all the others accused of corruption, independent of the erap case?



former president estrada answered a reporter's question on what his message to the filipino people is.. "nakakalungkot kasi ang ating mga kapitbahay na bansa ay umaangat ng umaangat, tayo hindi pa din.."

his camp will file for a motion for reconsideration as they fight for their stand that he is innocent.

president gloria macapagal-arroyo, through spokesperson ignacio bunye, issued the following statement after the verdict was read.. "we have a country to run, an economy to grow and a peace to win. we hope that this sad episode in our history will not permanently distract us from these goals."



i did join edsa dos to oust erap.
but i was also one of those who were pro-impeachment for gloria.
i'm sure there are many others like me, and many others who disagree with me.
are we just being too picky with a leader to believe in?
will it ever be possible for us to have a clean and honest administration?
we are a great people and we deserve a great leader, don't we?

in what case is it right to let go and forgive?
in what case is it right to keep fighting for what is right?

(this is all very confusing.)

ang saya saya ko at napaka-blessed ko na makapagtapos sa mga schools na yun. if i were to do it all over again, i would still choose the same schools to go to!

la salle zobel.. prep to high school ako sa zobel. sobrang saya kasi kahit hindi number one ang school namin sa academics (compared to to other high schools i mean), priority naman ng zobel na maging well-rounded ang students. culture sa school namin na di lang galingan sa grades, pero pati sa iba’t-ibang extra curricular activities. cheerleading and basketball games were a big part of my life kasi yun ang celebration naming ng school spirit, joining student council and yearbook committees was great, forums kasama ang ibang schools, big, big part din ang inter-class or inter-batch play and filmmaking competitions, pati spiritual activities like search-in. ang saya saya ng high school graaabe!!

ateneo.. years before college, alam ko na na gusto kong mag-aral sa ateneo. dun kasi nag-aral daddy ko, kuya ko, at ate ko, so pakiramdam ko, ako din, meant to be dun. napaka-conducive to learning ng ateneo. ang ganda ng campus, ang competitive ng students, challenging ang professors, plus ang ganda ng diversity ng community. if you are more into the humanities, ateneo is the place for you.

pero eto lang ang added note. senior year na ako sa college nang umupo ako sa ateneo side kapag ateneo-lasalle uaap game! hahaha! sobra kasi ang attachment ko sa “la salle school spirit” na up until junior ako in college, sa la salle side pa rin ako umuupo at kumakanta nga alma mater! by the time senior na ako, tapos naging classmate at nakilala ko na sina larry, magnum, at la, na-realize ko na ang ateneo school spirit ko, at umupo na ako sa ateneo side. hehehe!

first of all, challenging moments in life are exactly that. challenging. as in. hindi siya madali at all. ang hirap!! and what keeps me going is still life itself. na kahit ang daming nakakasakit na pangyayari, you still have to know that life will give you so much more! both good and bad, but still, a lot more! faith will keep you going, hope and positivity will keep you going. and of course, love will keep you going.

any advice on study habits? you've mention before na super nerd ka talaga..

yes! yes! definitely! certified nerd talaga ako! hahaha. ask anyone na kasama ko sa school.

my best tip would be.. to listen in class and to take down notes! pag nakinig ka in class na talagang todo kinig, tapos sinulat mo pa, kahit papaano, parang twice mo nang inaral. by the time you have an exam, because you listened, madali na yun para sa iyo!

another useful tip in studying is memorizing using mnemonics. for example.. the planets in our galaxy! mercury, venus, earth, mars, jupiter, saturn, neptune, well nung grade school ako, may pluto pa. haha! ang naturo sa aming mnemonics? all the first letters of “my very educated mother, just serve us nine pizzas”. hahaha! i know it sounds so funny but it is still how i remember the order of the planets. :p

another tip would be to study the things that you find more difficult, first. para mas hindi ka pa pagod pag inaaral mo yun, para may patience ka pa, at para fresh pa ang mind mo. hehe! at kapag kinapos ka na ng oras, at least, it’s the easy items left and you can breeze through that.

also! it is very important to figure out when its best for you to study. afternoon, late at night, or early in the morning? (sobrang morning person ako and so i often woke up extra, extra early to study. i found my brain was like a sponge!)

lastly, i do highly, highly, highly recommend taking up a part time job while in college. ang dami nitong ituturo sa iyo including being independent, responsible, patient, lahat.. and if you do start working while studying, just a tip, never, never “stop for a sem” or go on “loa”. ay naku! as much as you can, if you’re working, kahit two or three subjects lang, super underload. basta finish school. :) you will make your parents so proud. and yourself as well! you’ll think, “grabe, nakayanan ko yun!”

to do just that! save money! hehe.

i’m not shy about saying i’m really the “kuripot” type. hindi talaga ako gastador in general. kapag kailangan lang, at sa mga tamang bagay lang. my family brought me up that way.

i make it a point to put my money in the bank, sa iba-ibang klase ng account (savings, checking, or time deposit) para may iba-iba ka din klaseng investments.

hang out! nung freshman ako, i was a proud member of the snake pit! my sister sat there kasi. hehe. pero starting sophomore year, nung tinanggal na ang benches sa edsawalk, dun na ako sa bench right outside the caf. di na ako sure anong pangalan ng bench nun. :)

other favorite professors? definitely sir eddieboy calasanz for philosophy of religion! pamatay sa hirap pero worth it! also, fr. adolfo dacanay for theology of marriage and family life. isa pang pamatay pero worth it! fr. nemesio que for philosophy of ethics, dr. queena lee-chua for mathematics, and sir jo-ed tirol for history. if you are a comm major, sir mark escaler is the best (comm theory will never be more exciting!) and so is sir sev sarmenta (kwentuhan sessions were our classes!) lastly, for physical ed, sir jobet morales is the coolest taekwondo mentor.

my main man part two.

sobrang mahal namin ng ate ko ang kuya ko. as in sobra. as in siya ang most important man in both our lives.

with the help of my brother's wonderful girlfriend tracy, ang naging birthday gift naming tatlo sa kuya ko last january for his 30th birthday? two warm bodies in the person of me and my sister.

sobrang personal ng video na ito, but i would like to share it with you. itong moment na ito kasi ang highlight ng buong 2007 ko. :)



bilib ako sa sister ko who managed to take a video of the whole happening pa, samantalang ako, umiiyak lang sa tuwa the whole time. haha!

life lessons of a kuya's girl.

1. he is always there for me.

ever since bata ako, kapag may nagpapalungkot sa akin, kapag may mangyayaring magpapalungkot sa akin, he was never the let's-sit-down-and-talk-and-tell-me-all-about-it type.. he just always made me feel that he is there for me. that though he was not the type to give cheesy, brotherly advice, a simple tight hug would tell me that everything will be alright.

2. he is protective in the right way.

he never stopped people, events, or things from hurting me.. kasi alam niya na hindi niya kayang i-control yun. at alam niya na kailangan kong pagdaanan yun so that i will be stronger as a person. he has this way of making us feel na kaya niyang makipagpatayan para sa amin, and though he will never actually have to do it, knowing that he would be willing, is the best shield of love.

3. he has the classiest taste in all things.

whether it be clothes, music, movies, food, things to do, places to go to, manner of speaking, way of dealing with people.. my kuya has the best taste. he influenced me and my sister a lot in the "taste" department, and for that we are very thankful.

4. he is the reason i am in the work i am in right now.

if it weren't for him, di ko naman malalaman na kaya kong gawin ang trabaho ko ngayon. i am a really, really shy person, (and all my friends can attest to that) kaya it is a big surprise to me na kaya ko pala maging confident enough to do the work that i do. naging "idol" ko ang kuya ko na ang dami niyang kayang gawin, at yun ang naging inspiration ko.

5. he has big dreams and he goes for them.

sobrang cliche ng linyang "go for your dreams". at kahit never ito ginawang advice sa amin ng kuya ko, the way he lived his life showed it. he influenced by example. he works hard, and parties hard. (yeah!) if he knew that what he was fighting for was the right thing, he would protect the people he loves and fight for it until the end. he was never afraid to go out of his comfort zone and test himself kung ano ang kaya niyang gawin at kaya niyang maabot.

on the other side of that, he has always been so proud of me and my sister and our own dreams, and in fact, lagi siyang proud na proud na ipagmalaki kami. and that means the world to us.

anyone who knows me knows that my brother jc is the main man in my life!!

aside from the fact na freaky ang pagiging magkamukha namin, (my brother insists na twins kami, but i just came out six years later, at nauna ang ate ko, haha!) almost all of my interests in life, attitude towards things and situations, dahil sa influence niya. course ko na comm arts, my job now, my taste in movies and music, my taste in clothes both for men and women, the way i handle pressures at work, the kind of friend and family member i am, the way i'm smart with my money, the way i drive, haha, basta you get the point! :p

i have this attitude na kung ano yung nakikita kong ginagawa ng kuya at ate ko, yun ang "cool" para sa akin. yun yung gusto ko gawin, at gusto ko maging. hehe.

at isa sa mga pinakabilib ako na ginawa ng kuya ko? passion talaga niya to see the world.. :)

i remember those times na uuwi siya from a trip, every photo has a story, and he really would not run out of stories!! i knew from then on na kung makapag-ipon ako, i want to do what he did. i wanted to see for myself, the things, places, and people he saw.

ever since, dream talaga ng kuya ko to live abroad. a few years ago, he tried his luck in madrid, ended up staying only three months, but still, had the time of his life. (i remember making him a short film as a goodbye gift! we were all crying while watching it!!) now, he is living happily in san francisco, has been there for around two years, and he's still having the time of his life!

travel tips from jcg?

..the best time to travel is the year you graduate up to three years after.. the time that you aren't worrying yet about bills, or saving up for your future.

..keep a body bag for your money! and don't put your money all in one place. put some sa maleta, sa carry on bag, sa wallet.

..take lots and lots of photos. (and volunteer to take the photos of other tourists as well!)

..walking around is the best way to get around. :)

..you will never regret spending for travelling because the things you will learn are priceless.

happy four years to my blog!!

wow. ang bilis nga naman ng panahon! i started this blog september 2003, that means in a few weeks, four years old na ang blog ko! wow.

i’ve never celebrated an anniversary for my blog, so this year, i decided to do something different. i am so amazed with the world of blogging kasi so many people can write what they feel and think, and in return, they find out so many people also feel and think what they feel and think. ang galing, galing lang talaga! i’m always left in awe when i think about it. hehe. anyway. i’m also so thankful for everyone who reads this blog and for everyone who leaves a comment, because it makes me feel na there are people interested in what i think and feel.. (diba ganun yun? hehe!)

so for my blog’s anniversary, i would like to answer any big or small question that you have been thinking about, that you think i might have an answer to! pwedeng tungkol sa philosophy, sa movies, sa life-in-general, sa dreams, sa shopping secrets, sa school tips, sa inyong personal advocacies, sa kahit ano!

of course i cannot promise that i will answer all the questions. but i can promise that i will read all your questions, and that i will give the best answer that i can to the questions i feel i can give justice to! i’ll be collecting all the questions this august, my first post for september will be my best attempt at answering the questions! :p hehehe.
